On August 31st, FSEM 100 had the opportunity to hear (via internet connection) from a Teaching Fellow at Warwick University. She modeled what she teaches at Warwick by asking each student in my class to recall a pivotal learning experience. We had time to write about our experiences, then a couple minutes to discuss what we wrote with a partner. Finally, we shared the lessons we had learned from our individual experiences with the class. This teaching method was thought-provoking, and certainly different from the typical methods used in my other classes. Since I had to write and speak about my experience, I was encouraged to think more deeply.
